Automated Welding Line for Railway Wagon End Walls

The automated production line is designed for high-volume welding of railway wagon end walls while ensuring consistent quality throughout the manufacturing process.
The solution is intended for manufacturers requiring continuous production flow, high welding accuracy for large structures, and minimal operator involvement.

The line is based on Fanuc ARC Mate 710iC/12L industrial welding robots integrated with automated MIG/MAG welding systems.
A gantry system combined with a conveyor-based material handling solution enables the loading of large workpieces into the welding area. The pallet system supports the processing and welding of 8–9 different product types, featuring automatic product identification, automatic program selection, and additional automation functions that enhance productivity and manufacturing flexibility.

A key feature of the solution is its fully automated transfer system, providing a complete workpiece handling cycle, including:

  • Automatic loading into the work area;
  • Precise positioning before welding;
  • Automatic part rotation during processing;
  • Automatic unloading of finished products.

This level of integration creates a continuous production flow, eliminating manual handling operations and significantly increasing manufacturing efficiency.

Implementation Results
The implementation of this line enabled the customer to transition to highly automated serial production, increase output capacity, reduce operating costs, and maintain consistent product quality throughout all manufacturing stages. Personnel requirements were significantly reduced, with only two operators needed to supervise the entire process.
